How Much Does a Website Cost in 2026? Prices in the US, UK, Malaysia and Singapore

“How much will my website cost?” is the first question almost every client asks us, and the honest answer is: it depends on what the site has to do. A one-page site that collects enquiries and a 200-product online store are completely different jobs.

This guide gives you real 2026 price ranges for the four markets we work in most, the US, the UK, Malaysia and Singapore, so you can tell a fair quote from an inflated one. The ranges below come from 2026 price guides published by agencies and freelancers in each country. Most of those guides are written by companies selling websites, so treat them as a ballpark, not a price list.

The short answer

Who builds itUSUKMalaysiaSingapore
DIY website builder (Wix, Squarespace)about $17–$50 a monthsimilar plans, billed locallysimilar plans, billed locallysimilar plans, billed locally
Freelancer, basic 5–10 page site$1,500–$8,000£500–£4,000RM2,000–RM8,000S$1,500–S$8,000
Agency, small business site$5,000–$15,000£3,000–£10,000RM6,000–RM20,000S$3,000–S$14,000

Most small businesses that want a professional site, not a DIY one, end up paying somewhere in the middle of the freelancer range or the bottom of the agency range.

What you are actually paying for

A website quote is mostly people’s time. These are the things that move the number up or down:

  • Number of pages. A 5-page brochure site and a 30-page site with a page for every service and city are very different amounts of work.
  • Custom design or template. A tweaked template is fast. A design made from scratch for your brand takes days of design work before any code is written.
  • Who writes the words. Many quotes assume you supply the text and photos. UK agencies say copywriting, photography and SEO often add 30 to 50% to the quoted price when they are not included.
  • Features. Booking forms, member logins, payment gateways, product filters and links to your CRM or accounting software each add time.
  • Online store size. Products have to be added, photographed and organised. Ten products is a day. Five hundred is a project.
  • Where the team is based. The same site costs more from a London or New York agency because salaries and office rents are higher. UK guides report London agencies charging well above regional ones for comparable work.

Prices by country

United States

US freelancers usually charge $50 to $95 an hour for WordPress work, and a small business site takes about 40 to 80 hours. That puts a freelancer build at roughly $2,000 to $7,600. Agencies typically quote $5,000 to $15,000 for a complete small business site with strategy, design and content, and larger agencies go well past $30,000.

United Kingdom

A UK freelancer will usually quote £500 to £4,000 for a 5 to 10 page site, with day rates anywhere from about £240 to £550. Regional agencies most often charge £3,000 to £6,000 for a standard business site, and £5,000 to £10,000 for a more serious build. London agencies sit above that.

Malaysia

In Malaysia a basic brochure site usually costs RM2,000 to RM8,000. A more customised WordPress site with 10 to 15 pages, a blog and SEO setup is commonly quoted at RM6,000 to RM15,000. E-commerce sites start around RM5,000 for a simple package and run to RM30,000 or more for larger stores.

Singapore

Singapore agencies generally charge S$2,000 to S$5,000 for a starter site, around S$8,000 for a bespoke 7 to 8 page site with local SEO, and S$10,000 to S$14,000 for a premium site of about ten pages. Freelancers cost less, at about S$1,500 to S$8,000 for a basic site. Online stores start around S$1,500 on a platform like Shopify and reach S$25,000 or more for a fully custom build.

Running costs people forget

The build is a one-time cost. Keeping the site online, safe and up to date is ongoing:

  • Domain: about $10 to $20 a year for a .com. Country domains such as .sg cost more (around S$55 to S$80 a year).
  • Hosting and SSL: basic shared hosting costs a few dollars a month. Singapore guides quote S$20 to S$70 a month for business hosting.
  • Maintenance: backups, security updates and small changes. UK guides suggest budgeting £50 to £200 a month. Singapore guides quote S$80 to S$250 a month.

When you compare quotes, add up the build price plus three years of running costs. A cheap build with an expensive monthly fee can cost more than a fair build with a low one.

How we quote

Every project we take on gets a fixed quote and a delivery date in writing before any work starts. Typical timelines:

ProjectTypical timeline
Landing page (one page, lead form, WhatsApp button, tracking)about 1 week
Business website (a page per service, SEO basics, forms)about 2 weeks
Online store (cart, checkout, payments)3 to 6 weeks
Custom web or mobile app4 to 10 weeks

You can see live sites we’ve built, with the client named on each one, on our work page.

How to get an honest quote

Whoever you hire, a good quote should answer these questions in writing:

  1. How many pages are included, and what does an extra page cost?
  2. Who writes the text and supplies the photos?
  3. Is the design custom or based on a template?
  4. Can you edit the content yourself afterwards?
  5. What is included after launch, and what does hosting and support cost per month?
  6. Who owns the domain, the hosting account and the code?

If a quote doesn’t answer these, ask. A builder who is vague about scope before the project usually ends up adding charges during it.

Next step

If you tell us what your business does and what the site needs to do, we’ll reply with a fixed quote and a timeline, usually within 24 hours. Message us on WhatsApp from any page.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a basic small business website cost in 2026?

A basic 5 to 6 page site usually costs $1,500 to $8,000 from a US freelancer, £500 to £4,000 from a UK freelancer, RM2,000 to RM8,000 in Malaysia and S$2,000 to S$5,000 in Singapore. Agencies in the same countries charge two to three times more.

Why do website quotes vary so much?

Quotes differ because of page count, custom design versus a template, who writes the text, features like booking or payments, and where the team is based. A London or New York agency pays very different salaries from a smaller studio, and that shows up in the price.

What are the yearly running costs of a website?

Plan for a domain (about $10 to $20 a year, more for .sg or .com.my), hosting, an SSL certificate, backups and updates. Most providers bundle these for $20 to $200 a month.

Is a website builder like Wix cheaper than hiring a developer?

Up front, yes. Builders cost about $17 to $50 a month. Over three years you pay $600 to $1,800 and still do the design, writing and SEO yourself. For a business that wants leads from Google, a professionally built site usually pays for itself faster.

How long does it take to build a small business website?

A one-page landing page takes about a week. A 5 to 6 page business website takes around two weeks once we have your content. An online store with up to 100 products takes three to four weeks.
